These Nitrite No3 is an indicator for severe organic pollution. These tests are a reliable test for nitrate levels in your aquarium water. There are various nitrogenous substances occurring in the water in your aquarium, that can cause harm to the natural environment. Substances such as fish excreta and food remains, are decomposed in stages, known as the nitrogen cycle: first into toxic ammonia, then into nitrite and finally into nitrate. If left unmonitored, this nitrite content can cause your fish harm. This test is especially useful when setting up your new aquarium.
